A warm welcome to our 2004 – 2005 Community Education Programme for Tadcaster and District.
We have a lot of new courses on offer this year, which are as a result of work undertaken during the year to find out what it is you’d like to do. Most courses have a leaflet detailing what it will entail and what you will need to bring with you; we will be happy to send them out.
You may reserve a place by telephone, but we do ask that you attend one of our enrolment sessions as decisions are made following enrolment as to which classes are running.
All our tutors have been chosen for their enthusiasm and subject expertise and are committed to ensuring that students achieve their potential and enjoy their courses.

Term Dates 2004/2005: 13 September 04 – 17 December 04 (half term 25 Oct – 29 Oct).
10 January 05 – 18 March 05 (half term 7 Feb – 11 Feb).
4 April 05 – 27 May 05

If you require any advice or guidance, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01937 834225. We will be very pleased to assist you either over the phone or at enrolment.
I promise you a warm and friendly welcome and look forward, very much, to you joining us.

What is a Vocational Course?
Tadcaster and District Community Education draws down funding from the Learning and Skills Council for delivery of vocational courses. As such, they are cheaper than non-vocational courses. Vocational courses are generally 30 weeks in length, and will result in a nationally recognised Certificate at the end of the course. Our awarding body is NCFE (Northern Council for Further Education), which assesses work over a period of time. Students will be asked to keep a working file as well as examples of work completed, i.e. photographs, which are then verified internally by Community Education, with a visit by the external verifier, working for NCFE later on in the course. There is no examination. (You may be asked to record on to a tape for language classes). When signing up for a vocational course it is important to stress that there is an expectation that students will complete the course and consequently gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Childcare
Students, who require childcare during the duration of their vocational course, may claim childcare costs from Tadcaster District Community Education if they fit the criteria as listed. Childcare can be claimed for children who are attending registered childcare (i.e. registered childminders, nurseries etc).

Mobile Cinema Project
Want to show a film for your local community? We have cinema equipment available for any group in the district to use - for further information telephone Veronica: 01937 834225.

Summer Play Scheme

Discounts for families on low incomes / in receipt of means tested benefits and for families with 2nd/3rd child attending.
